The bright Apple orb of the Sanlitun store shines through my hotel window. It seems somehow apropos; fitting considering what I do and why I’m here. Perhaps that’s why I love staying at the Opposite House.
I had a good day, today. It started with an energizing stroll past the many embassies that line my route to the nearest subway station. After a short ride I stroll into the Sigma building and get down to work.Â
We end the day at a nearby Hot Pot joint. This is a cuisine that is enormously popular in China, doubly so with my fellow American travelers. For those that have not partaken, it’s basically a buffet of meats and vegetables that you fry in a pot of hot oil. Quite tasty and, I suspect, reasonably healthy. I always look forward to it, and our hosts always take us to the best places!
Night has fallen on my first day, so I’ll sign off for now. More, later!
