I chose Nougatine in hopes we might enjoy a good meal while overlooking Central Park. The Michelin-starred restaurant sits at floor level at Trump Tower, and the view did not disappoint. Better, the meal really impressed.
My wife and I both had the eggs benedict (pictured above). The eggs were properly soft, the ham delicious, and the potatoes remarkable. The potatoes were sliced paper thin and toasted on a grill. I always appreciate it when restaurants make an effort with breakfast spuds, and Nougatine set a new high bar.
Tina ordered a side of bacon -- also done to perfection in thin, crispy strips. My chicken jalapeno sausages were also delectable.Â
It shouldn’t surprise that service was top notch. But I couldn’t help but notice the courtesy of the hostess who, when the wind threatened to blow open the inner doors, would hold them closed to ensure our comfort. It’s that extra bit of attention that sets places like Nougatine apart.
It also shouldn’t surprise that such quality does not come without a price. It was an expensive breakfast, but the quality of the meal and attentiveness of the staff made for a bill I was happy to pay.
