Bouchon Bakery, in the sparkling Columbus Circle mall, is a tad confusing. The restaurant is split in two. Part is sit down table service, part is take away. I probably didn’t do my homework as we were a little out of sorts picking which we wanted to visit. The thirty minute wait for a table, while reasonable, was out of scope for us so we went for the walk-up.
Despite a few nervous moments, we did find a table just in time. My wife and I both had the tomato soup with grilled cheese (pictured above). That simple meal was made magical. the brioche bread had a hint of parmesan (I think) and the soup was meaty and slightly tangy. I finished it off with a wonderful peanut butter cookie; it was a delicate creation consisting of two thin cookies framing a peanut butter cream filling.Â
Bouchon Bakery is a terrific choice for those seeking a great lunch on the go.
